I’ve been having a lot of trouble eating and keeping food down lately. Of course that makes me feel worse. It’s a great weight loss plan but not too healthy! Anyhow, I came up with a great protein packed fruit smoothie. I admit I used to make these for some of my elderly patients in the long-term care home I was at. Sometimes that was all they could eat. Boy, I sure have a better understanding of them now!
Jenn’s Fruit Smoothie
1 cup frozen mixed fruit
1/4 cup non-fat cottage cheese
1 scoop protein mix (any flavor or brand will do. I’m using Spirulina in blueberry for now)
1/2 cup non-fat milk
1 teabag chamomile or green tea, loose
Optional:
banana
soy instead of milk
fiber, flax seed, etc.
Blend on high speed for 2 minutes until smooth, thick, and creamy. They are truly delicious and are full of protein and don’t seem to upset my tummy. The chamomile helps relax me as well.
If you get adventurous, try it and let me know what you think!
Btw, today was a much better day. I started off feeling the funk, but would NOT allow it to consume me. And it didn’t.
Hugs, Jenn
blech..soy instead of milk?
have a good Monday
Intracranial hypertension? Hmm. I can parse sense out of the words, and I can understand why it would be a problem, but for the life of me I can’t figure how such a thing would come about. I’m sorry to hear about it, though — even if it must be a relief having a genuine diagnosis.
It’s a starting point, right? From here you can go forward, however slowly and carefully. Best of luck!
Flinthart, intracranial hypertension is caused by the body producing too much cerebral spinal fluid. There’s only so much room in the cranium for the brain, blood vessels, and CSF. So if there’s too much CSF it compresses the brain causing the most earth shattering headaches one can experience. It’s debilitating. But yes, it’s a good thing that I now know what I dealing with.
They don’t know why the body might produce too much CSF so it’s one of those very rare diseases with little known about the etiology. Only 1 in 100,000 ever get this disease. I guess I’m just special
Thanks for the comment!

I use rice milk or fat free yoghurt in mine, and a scoop of protein powder, a handful of ice cubes and berries and some mango or other stone fruit. Thick, smooth, delicious.
